Exhibition Review: South Peninsula Community Art Gallery

Last week I attended the opening of the new South Peninsula Community Art Gallery in Kommetjie. The opening event launched with a group exhibition, showcasing local artists – which is the mission of this community gallery. My image “The Spaces Between” is included as part of this group exhibition, as well as my fine art post card collection and a selection of 200x200mm prints are available for sale.

I was beyond moved by the support of the local community towards this venture. So many people squeezed and moved through the gallery, spilling over to the surrounding areas - connecting and interacting with each other. It was a wonderful vibe!

The quality and variety of the work on display left me in awe. I am sharing a few snaps I took during the evening – none which do the work on display any justice, but hopefully gives you a small sense of what is on offer.

It is extremely encouraging to be part of a community where art is a way of life for many. Art is appreciate, valued and understood. In many ways, I have come home – back to the valley of my childhood and my heart.
